Mojo Monday Birthday Greetings!

I am making my first submission to Mojo Monday. I look every week at their sketches and I have used some of their sketches in the past, but never have I submitted. Too intimidated I guess - a lot of people submit their work there.
I received a call today from a former student inviting me to her home for her birthday party tonight. Normally I don't go, but I love this family and they are so good to me. They are from Lybia and the food is just incredible. Little Zubaida is just darling. So I immediately got to work to put a birthday card together for her.

I used the Mojo Monday Sketch (Week 132) and a new stamp set from Close to My Heart. This set is just so fun. It's full of fabulous birthday cakes and cupcakes. I love the DP paper used from Papertrey Ink - the pad was a gift from my sister. I had originally started this card as an Easter card, but then Zubaida called and it completed changed.

I'm having some issues with photography today. It's bright and sunny outside and in my room, but I can't get the photo to show off the blue rhinestones that I put in each of the cake flowers. I hope that it shows better with the close up.

Thanks for coming by have an awesome day!

Oh yeah - other good news! Today I had my 2 1/2 year check-up and I am still free and clear of cancer. My doctor told me that when I come in October for my mammogram it would be a full check-up and then I wouldn't have to come every 6 months anymore, just yearly! YAHOO!!! I hate having mammograms, but ladies don't neglect them - they could save your life.

Tuesday Morning Sketches

I'm on Spring Break! Yahoo!! I hope to get some closets cleaned out, some clothes donated, and I sadly I have to grade math books :( Mostly, I just want to scrapbook and make cards. I am hoping that I can accomplish all of it. At the rate I'm going all I'm going to get done is sleeping.

I hope you'll join us this week at Tuesday Morning Sketches. The sketch is so fun and this week's sponsor is Bugaboo Stamps. I think this image is great. I even broke my own rule when I colored her (never color with blonde hair) but she's too perfect and just had to be blonde.

Well I am off to make some cards for some challenges this week. I really want to do more. I have all these stamps, inks, papers and they just sit. I really need to find the balance between work and my hobbies.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving some love.

Daisies for Our Creative Corner (OCCSC8)

Don't you just love daisies? They are my absolutely favorite flower. Although daisies are white, these are daisy mums and they are a wonderful yellow color. I remember when I worked in my mother's flower shop we used to dye the mums just about any color we wanted. Once we dyed them blue for a wedding.

This set comes from Close to My Heart titled Enjoy Every Moment. It comes with two other flowers. I just love it! Although I had a hard time getting a perfect stamped image, I think I need to invest in some smaller acrylic blocks perhaps.

This is the card that I have designed to submit to Our Creative Corner (OCCSC8). I do like their sketches. This sketch was so fast and simple. I managed to figure out how to emboss using my Nestabilities. I have been watching videos on this because I haven't been able to get it to work. So I followed along while I was watching the video. I was doing the happy dance when it came out embossed. I love it!!

Thanks for stopping by. Have an awesome evening.

Tuesday Morning Sketches

Oops!! I forgot it was Tuesday. I am only a few days away from spring break and my mind is planning my week.

I just love this image. She comes from Stitchy Stamps and she is called Vintage Vamp. Isn't she wonderful? I had so many ideas in my head on how to do her justice. I think this card is great, but boy would I ever love to be able to watercolor her like Sandra MacLean watercolors. She would be 100 times more spectacular. I am still practicing and will be taking a class soon!

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day. 'Course it's snowing like mad outside and it's spring!!

Tuesday Morning Sketches

I am so excited for this morning and this post. This week's challenge is not a sketch, but to alter something. I was looking at Makiko Jones' blog and fell in love with her card with the newest set from TSG. I really like this set - the flowers and the sentiment just compliment one another very well.
I went to the new Michael's in my neighborhood and I walked around to find something to alter. Well I was in search of a frame for a special photo and saw that they were all on sale and some even on clearance. I came across the frame and I knew that I needed to use this for my altered project.

I hope that you join us this week. Tuesday Morning Sketches sponsor this week is AI Factory Digital Stamps. She is offering this week's winner a $15.00 gift certificate. I hope you join us.

Thanks for stopping by. Have an awesome day!

The Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge (SSS47)

I enjoyed joining The Sweet Stop challenge last week that I decided to give it another go. I improvised a bit on the sketch - I flipped it! I wanted to use these wonderful bird houses from The Unity Stamp Company.

I do like how this card came out, but now as I look at it I wish I had used more of the bird paper from Cosmo Cricket versus the green paper (I should've switched the two). Either way, I like the card.

Thanks for stopping by. I'll see you tomorrow for Tuesday Morning Sketches. I'm so excited to show you my project.

Card Patterns Sketch 55

I spent part of the day today blog hopping. As I was perusing Iowna's blog (whom by the way is very talented) I saw one of her design team cards for Card Patterns. I hopped on over. I loved the sketch so I decided I just had to play along. What's gotten into me?? I think I just unleased my creative monster because I have made a lot of cards this weekend. I am working on another as well.

The sketch is fun and I decided to pull out my Unity Stamps and came up with this absolutely adorable card, if I may say so. I just love how it came out. I am loving watercoloring and I think that's why all the cards. I will have to say though I am tearing through some of my DP paper and I love hoarding my paper. I'm also finding that I can admire my paper too by making cards and scrapbook pages.

I hope you have enjoyed my cards as much as I have making them this week. Thanks for stopping by.
I'll see you tomorrow with my other card and on Tuesday, you'll have to come back for my Tuesday Morning Sketches submission - I am really excited to show you this. I wish I could show you now, but my sister would kill me. I never have been one to keep things under wrap!!

Our Creative Corner ~ Color Challenge (OCCC) & Sketch Challenge (OCCSC6)

It was a beautiful day in Colorado today. I had the windows open in hopes that it'll put some fresh air in my home and help with this terrible cold I keep catching. I hope tomorrow will be just as nice. However I just heard the weather man say snow is on its way!

I've had a wonderfully productive day. I planned on spending my weekend stamping - and that's just what I have done. Have I done as much as I think I can get done in my head - NO! But I've had a good day.

Last week I did the OCC Challenge and didn't realize that there was also a sketch challenge. This time I combined the OCC Challenge with the OCC Sketch Challenge. The color challenge is to use pink, green, yellow, and brown (my favorite color combinations). I stayed true to the sketch with the exception of the ribbon. I didn't like my ribbon covering the flower. I love the DP paper. I can't quite tell if the color is blue or green, but I like it! I hope you do too.

Have a wonderful day! Thanks for stopping by.

Sassy Cheryl's Challenge #2

I've just recently found Sassy Cheryl's Digi Stamps and I just love her work. I am not a big fan of digi's because I don't have the best printer at home and printing one image at a time gets expensive. I find that most digital stamps don't have the detail that a "real" stamp has. However Cheryl's digis are just wonderful (they don't look like something out of a coloring book). I was excited to see some images that appealed to my teacher side of life. I look forward to putting together some projects for my students with her images.

I love this birthday cake -- all the cupcakes piled high. I'm trying to get myself slightly ahead. My niece's birthday is coming up and this beauty is for her. Now I need to make birthday cards for my teammates at work. It seems that everyone on the 2nd grade team's birthday is next week. I'm the odd man out, my birthday is in October.

Thanks for stopping by.

Let the Sunshine In (TSG45 & SSS46)

I can't believe it! This is my fourth posting in a row - I am trying to get on a roll!! If I can't have spring yet - I'll let the sunshine in with my cards.

I loved my yellow card the other day so much that I had to make just one more. I had posted the OCC card on the 7th and wouldn't you know it TSG posted a challenge on Monday for a yellow card with flowers. Well I just had to do another one. This time I combined TSG's challenge #45 using the sketch from The Sweet Shop Sketch Challenge Blog's challenge #46. I love the sketch and of course I love my Flowers of Happiness set from TSG.

Don't you just love how I managed to layer the flower? It looks like I made several layers, but there is only three layers. I just love it!!

Thanks for stopping by. I am off to work and I'm already late!!

Tuesday Morning Sketches

This week's Tuesday Morning Sketches sponsor is Pez-a-Doodle. What I like about this sponsor are all the Studio G stamps. For my submission I used six different stamps. I am so in the mood for spring. March is Colorado's snowiest month and I hope we don't get any snow between now and my spring break. I want to see flowers blooming, grass turning green, and have warm weather. I want to get out and ride my bike - I call her Jello! I'll have to post a picture sometime. So my card was made with spring and renewal in mind.

Be sure to stop by Tuesday Morning Sketches to check out the sketch and the other DT member's cards.

Have an awesome day!

Our Creative Corner

Many of you know that Silke Ledlow is my all time favorite crafter. I read her blog on a daily basis. I just love her work. Well she is the host for this week's Our Creative Corner and it's her last. I certainly had to join in. This is like the first time I've stepped out to join challenges beyond There She Goes and Tuesday Morning Sketches. I want to break out and get noticed, someday I'd like to be on some design teams - so I guess I better get busy!!

I love how this card came out. It's a thank you card that is two weeks overdue. We had our JA day at school and I had the best volunteer I've ever had. The kids and I just had the greatest time. It took me nearly two weeks just to get the kids to write their thank you letters - so I hope she'll understand.

Anyway, I love the colors and the DP. The sketch was fun to work with. I think the only thing I goofed on was the rounded corners. My corner punch wasn't cooperating!! The stamp is the newest from There She Goes and I had a blast using watercolors to color it.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great night.

TSG44 Meet The New Trendsetters

As I have said before, the only thing constant in life is change. This week Jessica, owner of my favorite stamp company, There She Goes announced several new Trendsetters. I'm sad that Maki Jones will no longer be one of her designers. However, after spending hours perusing the new Trendsetters I am impressed!! I look forward to seeing their work.

This week I decided to join the TSG Challenge. The challenge was to CASE one of the new Trendsetter's cards and change 3 things. I took a liking to Kim Teasdale's work. Her watercoloring technique is just amazing! I chose to CASE her Peter Rabbit Inspired card that she made in 2008. I changed the DP but kept the color scheme, I replaced the stitching with piercing (I can't sew a straight line), last I changed the stamp and used the newest Hunny Bunnies set from TSG. I gave it a go (my first try) at watercoloring - I think it came out pretty good.

I'm off to tell Kim I CASED her card. Thanks for stopping by have an awesome day!

Tuesday Morning Sketches

It's amazing how time flies. My newphew's 15th birthday is at the end of this week. I wanted to make a card for him, but somehow my card turned out a bit more feminine that what I planned on. So I'll have to start over and make him something different.

This week, Integrity is Tuesday Morning Sketches sponsor. I chose this lovely piece of cake. I was dreaming of German chocolate cake as I was coloring it - my favorite. I haven't had a good piece of cake in years. I'll just have to stick with the paper kind!

Hope you join us at TMS this week. Thanks for stopping by.
